I have several selaginellas of that name are unclear.
It was about twenty years ago when I started getting selaginellas.  When I move to this house about fifteen years ago, I thought it would be easier to maintain to plant them on the ground.  I didn't care about the names and dumped the name plates, then.  I do not remember the names of them.

Since I read about rock gardens and longed for them,  they were arranged like one of them mixed with some sedum and lewisia.  Not bad, hah?  I set sprinkler to have water supplied, every day.

After a few years, trees around grew and leaves got thicker, the area was shadowed.  In 2007, I moved them to the place under sunshine.  I half blank-minded thought it would be OK and neglected to place any water supply.

Looking like it was harsh to be in the sun without enough water as expected, it is not enough to have sun shade to keep them healthy.  After a couple of years, they became in miserable shape.

I felt sorry and regretted my plan, and planted them in pots giving up to have them on the ground after that.  I am lovingly maintaining them with watering everyday.

Going back to the subject of unknown names, the only clues of their names are the circles on my book of selaginella that probably were marked when I bought them.  I'd like some master could tell me which.
The possible species names are "Ogon-tsuru", Golden Crane; "Koku-botan", Black Peony; "Kokonoe-nishiki", Nine-fold brocade; "Koma-botan", Korean Peony; "Tama-jishi", Round Lion; "Ten-ryu", Dragon in the sky; "Hakkou-ryu", White Light Dragon,  "Meisei"; Bright Star.

The pictures below are of nameless selaginellas.

These are small stocks planted this year on a porous stone.  When I moved from ground to pots there were pieces of dead looking roots and branches.  Those in the picture are ones recovered from those.  They show little features except the color is a little yellowish.

This is also reborn one.  But, this has some white spots on the edge and sandy spots, too.

I believe this is a wild species.  Originally, it was used as a bed to plant a fern, Pyrrosia linearifolia in the right photo.  The selaginella was reborn after the fern was dead.

This is the biggest among them.  It has a little white spots.  Color is darker.

This has somewhat course leaves.

Leaves in the shape of cocktail glasses.

This has many leaves growing from stem randomly, and is too much crowded to be named.

The color on the picture is light, but actually it is darker, and I think this is "Kokubotan".

This has apparent white spots.  I guess this is "Ogon-tsuru" or "Meisei".

This has some spots, but not easy to name.

These two are the reborns, but they look completely different.

Well, I cannot name them until they grow a little larger.
